The New Orleans Saints may be without one of their top pass-rushers for a while.

According to Garafolo and Jones, Galette, who suffered the injury “recently,” is seeking an another opinion and may attempt to play through the injury.

However, if he does decide to undergo surgery, the picture is frightening bleak for the Saints. The expected timetable is five to six months, which would keep him sidelined until November or December. Galette would likely begin the season on the PUP list, meaning six games missed would be the best-case scenario, although it would probably be several more.

2. He recorded 10.0 sacks last year and has 31.5 in his career with the Saints.

Galette, who went undrafted in 2010, started just two games in his first three seasons with the Saints, serving mostly as a passing-down specialist. But injuries allowed him an opportunity to start in 2013, and he took full advantage. In the last two campaigns, he has started 28 games, recording 22.0 sacks, four forced fumbles and 23 tackles for loss.

He is arguably the Saints’ greatest edge threat, and together with Cam Jordan, who just signed an extension, Sean Payton has a scary pass-rushing duo.

3. He Was Arrested in January for Domestic Violence

Galette was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of simple battery after reportedly pushing a woman to the ground.

The charges were later dropped, but he doesn’t come without his baggage. He was kicked off the Temple football team for “boneheaded mistakes.”
