The United States are one step closer to winning the Gold Cup. On Wednesday night, the US takes on Jamaica in the 2015 Gold Cup semifinals with a spot in Sunday’s final on the line. The US is coming off arguably its best performance of the tournament. They defeated a shorthanded Cuba team 6-0. Certainly, Cuba was overmatched but the US had an offensive explosion including Clint Dempsey’s hat trick. Dempsey currently leads all players in the tournament with 6 goals.
Jamaica reached the semifinals by defeating Haiti 1-0. They capitalized on an early goal and never looked back. Similar to the United States, Jamaica won their group with 7 points. Here is what you need to know about Wednesday’s match:

United States Preview
The United States is coming off a 6-0 smashing of Cuba. Clint Dempsey has been red hot during the Gold Cup and the US will need his play to continue to be steller to beat Jamaica. The United States entered the knockout stage of the tournament by winning Group A. Their Group A performance included wins against Honduras and Haiti. The US will face its toughest match thus far against Jamaica.

Jamaica is coming off a 1-0 victory against Haiti. They won Group B with an impressive 7 points, including 1-0 victories against both El Salvador and Canada. The team is made up of a number of MLS players, including Houston Dynamo player Giles Barnes who scored the winning goal against Haiti in their last match. There will certainly be some familiarity on Wednesday night between teams with both rosters featuring MLS players.
