Melvin Gordon Stats & Fantasy Analysis in Seahawks-Chargers Game

Melvin Gordon 14 rushes, 34 yards, 1 reception 5 yards
Box Score

Gordon finished the first half with 14 rushes for 34 yards along with a 5-yard reception. He did not play in the second half. Gordon has not been able to breakout, although he had a few rushes that looked impressive. Overall, he cannot seem to get past the line of scrimmage.

This game leaves fantasy owners wondering whether Gordon will be the feature back or if the team plans to use a running back-by-committee approach. Danny Woodhead also saw action with the first team. It is hard to not have images of fantasy players like Bishop Sankey in your head. Sankey was a rookie running back last season who was drafted in the top five rounds of many drafts, but did not put up the numbers that many were expecting.

For those who have not yet done their fantasy draft yet, it is hard to justify picking Gordon with an early pick when you do not know exactly what you are going to get. There are running backs like Frank Gore going in a similar range that are more than dependable.

He has only played in one other preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys. He had just 6 carries for 11 yards in that game.
