Nyquist has won the 142nd running of the Kentucky Derby.
The undefeated three-year-old colt entered the Run for the Roses undefeated in his first seven races, and he looked every bit the part with an absolute brilliant performance. Danzing Candy, as expected, led the early pace, but Mario Gutierrez and Nyquist stayed right behind before taking the lead and pulling away down the stretch.

Exaggerator, ridden by Kent Desormeaux, made a nice late run to finish second, but it wasn’t enough to catch Nyquist, who is proving to be a truly special horse and was moving at a historically fast speed:
