At 12:01 a.m. Eastern on Friday, July 1st NBA free agency begins. This offseason brings particular intrigue as the NBA salary cap is slated to go up by $24 million.

Teams will begin meeting with players after the clock strikes midnight. It’s an annual NBA tradition, but Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the NBA has been probing teams about meetings that have already been scheduled.

While players can verbally commit to a team, no contracts can be signed until July 6. As fans saw last year with DeAndre Jordan, no free agent signing can be celebrated until the player has signed on the dotted line.

Kevin Durant, Al Horford and Nicolas Batum are just some of the top free agents available. Durant has organized a weekend in the Hamptons to meet with the Warriors, Spurs, Heat, Celtics and Clippers.

Details will begin to emerge after midnight about other key free agents and the teams they are meeting with. Keep it here for live updates on the latest NBA free agency news.
