On Sunday, the Arizona Diamondbacks will play the San Diego Padres for their most recent spring training game.
They will have just three more exhibition games before their Opening Day showdown against the Los Angeles Dodgers (on March 26 in California).

The Diamondbacks (like every other team) are in the middle of finalizing their roster for the 2026 MLB season.
On Saturday, Jorge Castillo of ESPN reported that Jonathan Loaisiga will make the team’s roster.
Castillo wrote: “Jonathan Loáisiga has made the Diamondbacks’ Opening Day roster, a source tells ESPN. The former Yankee signed a minor-league deal this offseason.”

Loaisiga is coming off a year where he went 0-1 with a 4.25 ERA in 30 games for the New York Yankees.
Aaron Hughes of Good Morning Baseball added: “Jonathan Loáisiga has made the #Dbacks opening day roster according to @jorgecastillo. He has showcased some electric stuff and is a clear backend option for a team desperate for leverage relief help.”

Loaisiga has spent eight seasons in the MLB (all with the Yankees).
Over 193 games, he has gone 19-12 with a 3.54 ERA.

During the 2021 season, the 31-year-old went 9-4 with a 2.17 ERA in 57 games.
He could be a very helpful piece for Arizona in 2026.

The Diamondbacks are coming off a year where they went 80-82, which had them as the fourth-place team in the National League West.
They missed the 2025 MLB playoffs.
During the 2023 season, the Diamondbacks reached the World Series (before losing to the Texas Rangers).
