The Milwaukee Brewers are in the middle of a series against the Atlanta Braves. During this series, the Brewers got an update on Brandon Woodruff.
Game 1 was a pitcher’s duel between Jacob Misiorowski and Chris Sale. Misiorowski was named the Player of the Game. Misiorowski threw six innings while collecting six strikeouts and allowing two walks.
UPDATE: The Brewers won game two by a final score of 4-1. Jake Bauers scored the game-winning home run.
Milwaukee Brewers Announce Brandon Woodruff Update
MLB insider Curt Hogg provided an update on Woodruff that everyone will be pleased to learn about.
“Just talked with Brandon Woodruff, who in a twist didn’t need surgery and will start throwing progression Wed. As he exhausted his options pre-surgery, 4-week scan showed unexpected healing, so he went to Dr. Meister, who said surgery was not recommended. “I’m thankful,” he said,” Hogg reported via a social media post.
Hogg then explained Woodruff’s plan moving forward.
“The plan is for Woodruff to have a throwing progression for 5 weeks, then reevaluate. He has no expectations/timetable after that. The plan was to get surgery when he left Milwaukee in late July, he reiterated, before scans in early August and Meister’s opinion changed things,” Hogg said.
Woodruff is a 33-year-old starting pitcher who is currently on the IL.

Woodruff pitched in nine games before going on the IL.
In those games, Woodruff collected 47 strikeouts, a 0.84 WHIP, and a 2.98 ERA. Additionally, Woodruff has a 2-2 win-loss record.
On July 12th, Woodruff was moved from the 15-day IL to the 60-day IL because of right shoulder inflammation.
Milwaukee Brewers vs Atlanta Braves
The Brewers are currently the top team in the NL Central division. They are six games ahead of the Chicago Cubs, 14.5 ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals, 17.5 ahead of the Pittsburgh Pirates, and 19 ahead of the Cincinnati Reds.
With Friday night’s victory, the Brewers became the first team in the MLB to record 80 wins.
Saturday’s game will be broadcast at 12:10 PM Mountain Time, 2:10 PM Eastern Time. It will feature the pitching matchup of Martin Perez against Logan Henderson.
The Brewers are running away with the division. However, with the playoffs not too far away, it’s better for them to put the pedal to the metal than ease up.
