Buehler is coming off a season where he spent time with the Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies.

He went 10-7 with a 4.93 ERA in 26 games (24 starts).

Sammy Levitt wrote (on March 16): “A really nice outing for Walker Buehler today, who struck out 7 batters in 5 scoreless innings. He threw 77 pitches, working out of trouble a number of times. Giants went 0-for-5 with RISP. Another potential step for Buehler towards the Padres starting rotation.”
