The Doc Rivers stint with the Bucks started off on an odd note.
After he was let go by the Philadelphia 76ers following his third season with the team, Rivers didn’t get a head coaching job for the start of the 2023-2024 season.
The Bucks hired Adrian Griffin. Although Griffin was putting together a playoff-caliber season, the Bucks shockingly let him go halfway through. Rivers took over and finished the 2023-2024 season in charge. He coached the Bucks for the next two years.
In 2024-2025, Rivers’ Bucks went 48-34. They made the playoffs, but lost in the first round. That was two first-round exits in a row for Rivers’ Bucks. The third year comes with a missed postseason.
Rivers, a soon-to-be Hall of Famer, might not be interested in taking on another job after his Bucks stint. Following runs with the Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers, Sixers, and the Bucks, the veteran head coach could soon call it a career.
