Azeez Ojulari could be a breakout star to watch on coordinator Vic Fangio's Eagles defense.

According to multiple reports, the Atlanta Falcons have agreed to terms with linebacker Azeez Ojulari on a one-year contract. Ojulari, a Marietta, Georgia native, played his collegiate football at the University of Georgia before being drafted by the New York Giants in the 2nd round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Azeez Ojulari played four seasons with the Giants before signing a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles last offseason. The 6-3, 240-pound outside linebacker now lands with the Falcons, where he will likely have a chance to compete for some playing time if he stays healthy.

Azeez Ojulari saw ample playing time in his first few seasons with the New York Giants, but time on the field has been scarce ever since. He appeared in just three games with the Eagles, starting two of them, and recording just six tackles.

Over his five year NFL career, Ojulari has 22 sacks and 113 total tackles.

His rookie season was his best in the NFL. Back in 2021, Azeez Ojulari started 13 of a possible 17 games, and recorded eight sacks, eight tackles for loss, and 13 quarterback hits.

However, he would only go on to start 12 games over the next two seasons due to injury, but he was still fairly productive with the Giants. By the time his free agency rolled around in 2025, New York no longer saw a fit, and the Eagles swooped in, but Ojulari did not see much of the field last year, as he posted virtially no stats with Philadelphia.

Azeez Ojulari Was a Standout Linebacker at Georgia

Azeez Ojulari made his name across the state of Georgia with his dominant linebacker play under Georgia Bulldogs’ head coach Kirby Smart. He was one of several Georgia linebackers to be drafted from 2020 to 2023. He recorded 14 sacks over three seasons at Georgia, including a conference-high 8.5 sacks in 2020.

That led to him being a second-round draft pick, but after a couple of good years to start his career, Ojulari hasn’t found his footing in the NFL since.

The Falcons are taking a flyer on him, and he could have a reserve role with the team if he has a strong training camp and benefits from other potential injuries to other Falcons contributors.
