Bills Listed as Team With Most Pressure to Win Super Bowl

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is admitting why the team lost to the Chicago Bears in such a lopsided game.

The Buffalo Bills’ 2024 season ended the same way most of them have the last five years, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs.

So the pressure for quarterback Josh Allen and the Bills to topple the Chiefs in 2025 has never been greater, according to FanSided’s Wynston Wilcox.

“Allen secured his first MVP award last year. Winning league MVP is one thing, but it doesn’t mean anything if you don’t back it up with a Super Bowl appearance,” Wilcox wrote on September 1. Allen has reached the pinnacle of the NFL, but he still lacks a championship.

But Wilcox is bullish on the this season’s Bills.

“If there’s anybody that will end the streak, it’s Allen, and if there’s any year to do it, it’s 2025,” he wrote.

Buffalo Bills Added Help This Offseason

The Buffalo Bills added free agent pass rusher Joey Bosa and wide receiver Josh Palmer. The team also signed running back James Cook to a four-year deal, keeping him in Buffalo through at least the 2029 season.

Cook, who will turn 26 on September 25, is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons, and Bosa, who has played in only 28 games over the past three seasons, is still considered an impact defender at age 30.

Bosa “is exactly the kind of low-risk bet a team like Buffalo needs to make,” Cleveland.com’s Tim Bielik wrote on September 1. “A healthy Bosa has proven over his career he can be quite the difference maker.”

Palmer, whose best season in his four-year career included 769 yards on 72 receptions in 2022, will have a “significant” role on the receiving corps but had to “yet to build the same rapport with Allen that (Khalil) Shakir has earned,” according to SI’s Randy Gurzi in a September 1 story.

Bills’ Josh Allen Compared to Ravens’ Lamar Jackson

Wilcox compared Allen to Baltimore Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson, who also has a league MVP but no championship rings.

The Bills will host the Ravens in Week 1 on Sunday Night Football.

Josh Allen is teetering into the same territory as Lamar Jackson,” wrote Wilcox, who also listed the Ravens among the teams under the most pressure to win a Super Bowl.

The Chiefs have been running the AFC each of the last three seasons and don’t look like they’ll be stopped,” he wrote. The Bills have to find a way to win, even better if they do it and take out Lamar Jackson in the process.

If the Bills were able to pull off two wins over the Chiefs the last five years, then they might’ve held the Lombardi Trophy one time.

Still, the “Bills haven’t won a championship since the merger and went through a four-year period of losing four-straight Super Bowls,” Wilcox wrote. “It won’t be easy. Last year, the Bills once again came up short; they won’t be able to get away with another close call in 2025,” Wilcox added.

Allen will turn 30 next year, meaning he could be entering the final seasons of his prime. The time to win the Super Bowl is now.
