This isn’t what anyone wants to see — former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback and NFL legend Tom Brady battling through emotional issues.
Brady posted an alarming message on his Instagram stories on Saturday, December 20, following news breaking about his ex-wife, Gisele Bundchen, getting remarried to her former jiu jitsu instructor, Joaquim Valente.
Brady posted a picture of himself in a white hoodie with audio from the song “1-800-273-8255” by the rapper Logic — better known as “1-800” — which was the previous phone number for the American National Suicide Prevention Hotline.
Brady’s post raised more than a few eyebrows. Bundchen and Brady announced their divorce in October 2022 following 13 years of marriage and 2 children.
From TMZ: “If you’re not familiar with the track, it has lines like ‘I feel like my life ain’t mine’ and ‘I don’t wanna be alive.’ The title is the old suicide prevention hotline number, though it’s since been changed to the simpler 988.”
Bundchen and Valente, who publicly came out as a couple in 2023, had a child together in February 2025 and People Magazine reports the couple married on December 3, 2025, in Seaside, Florida.
From People: “Bündchen has been dating the Jiu-Jitsu instructor since June 2023. The pair were first spotted together in November 2022, when they visited Provincia de Puntarenas (a province located on Costa Rica’s coast) with her two kids.”
Brady’s Career May Have Contributed to Divorce
It’s widely thought Brady’s NFL career may have been a significant factor in his divorce from Bundchen, who has an estimated net worth of $400 million as a result of her lucrative modeling career.
Brady played football better and longer than anyone in the history of the NFL, winning 7 Super Bowls and playing in 3 more Super Bowls over 23 seasons with the New England Patriots and Buccaneers.
Brady won his final Super Bowl in his first season with the Buccaneers in 2020, then played 2 more seasons. He even announced his retirement at the beginning of 2022 before deciding to play one more season — which could have been the source of Bundchen’s frustration.
“When I was 26 years old and he was 29 years old, we met, we wanted a family, we wanted things together,” Bundchen told Vanity Fair in 2023. “As time goes by, we realize that we just wanted different things.”
Little Sympathy for Brady’s Plight Online
Brady has seemed adrift since the end of his record setting career, signing a 10-year, $375 million contract to be a color commentator for Fox Sports NFL coverage following his final retirement in February 2023.
Brady took a full year off before going into the booth during the 2024 regular season. He was also, quite famously, the subject of a brutal Netflix roast that reportedly drew Bundchen’s ire because it contained so many jokes about her relationship with Valente.
“As the Kenny Loggins song says, you gotta know when to fold ’em,” Yahoo’s Heidi N. Moore wrote on X. “Brady overplayed his hand, didn’t go out at the top, and betrayed his agreement with his wife, all to look an absolute fool. Many such cases.”
“Tom Brady became a real life Rob Delaney tweet,” Kiki 444 wrote on X. “His wife really left him for the karate instructor and he’s posting suicide content through it.”
