Angel Reese has been traded to the Atlanta Dream.

The WNBA quickly grabbed headlines on Monday, April 6, as one of the faces of the league has been surpisingly traded. Angel Reese is headed to the Atlanta Dream as the Chicago Dream dealt the superstar in a blockbuster trade, per Amazon Sports’ Taylor Rooks.

“BREAKING: Angel Reese is headed to the Atlanta Dream,” Rooks noted in an April 6, 2026, message on X. “Sources tell me the Atlanta Dream and the Chicago Sky have agreed to a trade.”

Here’s what you need to know about the blockbuster WNBA trade.

Angel Reese Breaks Silence on WNBA Trade Between Atlanta Dream & Chicago Sky

It did not take long for Reese to confirm the news. Minutes after Rooks’ report, Reese took to social media to post herself in a new Dream uniform.

“An Angel’s DREAM💭,” Reese remarked in an April 6, message on X. “🅰️TL WHAT UP?! @AtlantaDream.”

Angel Reese Trade Details: Chicago Sky Land 2 1st Round Picks From Atlanta Dream

Atlanta is paying a premium to acquire Reese. The Sky landed two future first-round picks as part of the blockbuster trade with the Dream.

“BREAKING: The Atlanta Dream is sending a 2027 first-round pick and 2028 first-round pick to the Chicago Sky for two-time All Star Angel Reese and 2028 second-round swap rights, sources tell ESPN,” ESPN’s Kendra Andrews detailed in an April 6, X post.

WNBA News: There Had Been Drama Between Angel Reese & Chicago Sky Prior to the Trade

For context, there had been a bit of ongoing public drama between Reese and the Sky. At the end of the 2025 WNBA season, Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca still expressed confidence that Reese would be with the team in 2026.

“Angel is an ascending young talent in this league who’s had two very, very good seasons here in Chicago,” Pagliocca said in September 2025, per ESPN’s Alexa Philippou. “Obviously we went through what we did. I feel like we closed the chapter on it. She spoke to her teammates.

“She spoke publicly. We moved on as a team. She’s a special player. And I have good conversations with Angel daily, with her team daily. They’re constant, and they’re productive.”

The Atlanta Dream Are 5th in the WNBA Championship Odds

The move immediately makes the Dream a WNBA championship contender fresh off a 30-14 record in 2025. Reese will now join a loaded Dream roster headlined by Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard and Brittney Griner.

Atlanta sits in fifth in the WNBA odds to win the championship at +900, per DraftKings. The Las Vegas Aces (+340) and Indiana Fever (+370) head into the WNBA season as the two title favorites.

Back in 2024, Reese expressed her affinity for Griner. Now, the two stars will be teammates on the Dream making rebounding quite a challenge for Atlanta’s opponents.

“She’s a great player, really efficient tonight,” Reese said at the time, per New York Post. “Just being able to follow the game plan was something we didn’t do.”

Reese will get a look at her former team sooner rather than later. The Dream open up the WNBA preseason against the Sky on April 29.
