Bethune (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Packers, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. Bethune sprained his MCL in the first quarter of this past Sunday's loss to the Seahawks. He's mostly played on special teams this season, so his absence won't hurt the 49ers' depth on defense that much. Bethune's next opportunity to play will be Week 13 against Buffalo on Sunday, Dec. 1.
Williams (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Packers, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. Williams has been held out of practice all week due to a lingering ankle issue, though it appears the 49ers will wait to announce his status for Sunday's game until approximately 90 minutes before the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. If Williams doesn't end up playing, Jaylon Moore would be the top candidate to start at left tackle.
Bosa (hip/oblique) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Packers, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Bosa didn't practice all week after sustaining hip and oblique injuries in San Francisco's Week 11 loss to the Seahawks, and he won't travel with the team to Green Bay as he rehabs his oblique, per Inman. The 49ers' pass-rush unit could struggle without Bosa in Week 12, as the 27-year-old has posted a team-high 7.0 sacks through 10 games this season. Yetur Gross-Matos is likely the top candidate to replace Bosa on San Francisco's defensive line Sunday.
Ward (personal) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Packers, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Ward spent the last three weeks away from the team mourning the loss of his one-year-old daughter and is now set to miss Sunday's matchup in Green Bay as he eases back into action, per David Lombardi of SFStandard.com. While Ward remains sidelined in Week 12, San Francisco's top outside cornerbacks will likely be Isaac Yiadom and Renardo Green.
Cowing (concussion) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Packers, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Cowing sustained a concussion in the 49ers' Week 11 loss to the Seahawks and was unable to practice both Thursday and Friday, so it's no surprise that he won't suit up Sunday. The rookie wideout from Arizona has seen minimal offensive work through nine appearances this season, catching two of his three targets for 50 yards across. Expect Ronnie Bell to serve as San Francisco's top punt returner with Cowing sidelined in Week 12.
Kittle (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Green Bay, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Kittle promised Wednesday he'd be back this weekend, and while he's living up to his end of the bargain, his fantasy outlook is less promising than usual with Brandon Allen stepping in for an injured Brock Purdy (right shoulder) as the 49ers' starting QB . Allen hasn't started a game since 2021 and has a career completion rate of just 56.7 percent, with 6.1 yards per attempt, 10 TDs and six INTs on 263 passes.
Allen will replace Brock Purdy (shoulder) as the starting quarterback Sunday at Green Bay, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan made the announcement Friday afternoon, revealing that the team was surprised by the degree of pain in Purdy's throwing shoulder when he attempted to practice Thursday. Purdy was listed as a limited participant for that session, which followed Wednesday's capped session and preceded Friday's absence. 49ers GM John Lynch said Friday morning that MRIs on the shoulder didn't suggest a long-term injury, but it nonetheless seems possible at this point that Allen could make multiple starters. Beyond Sunday, the 49ers play at Buffalo in Week 13 (Dec. 1), at home against Chicago in Week 14 (Dec. 8) and at home against the Rams in Week 15 (Dec. 12, TNF). The game in Green Bay this Sunday will mark Allen's first NFL start since 2021 (with Cincinnati). He's gone 2-7 as a starter, with a career 56.7 completion percentage, 6.1 YPA, 10 TD passes and six INTs, adding 34 rush attempts for 63 yards and no TDs.
