Michigan hosts Penn State in an afternoon Big Ten matchup. According to OddsShark, Michigan is favored by 18.5 points heading into the contest.

The over-under is set at 56 points. The OddsShark computer projects Michigan to win 34.8-21.2 over Penn State. The computer is taking Penn State against the spread and projects the point total to be the exact same as Vegas.

There is a lot to like about Michigan. The Wolverines have one of the best defenses in the country and have the benefit of playing the entire month of September in Ann Arbor. After winning the starting quarterback competition, Wilton Speight has looked great to start the season.

Penn State has had a solid start to the season and sits at 2-1 with their lone loss coming against Pitt in a rivalry game. Michigan is the much better team, but 18 points is a lot to be favored by against a conference foe. Based on the S&P + Rankings, Penn State is ranked inside the top 30 teams.

We like Michigan to win the game comfortably, but not by as big of a margin as Vegas projects. Look for Penn State to make it interesting early on as the Wolverines pull away late.

Heavy’s Pick: Michigan 31 Penn State 20. Penn State +18.5. Under on the Point Total.
