In a week filled with non-conference matchups, Week 13 was expected to be a respite from the shifting standings before divisional rivalries close out the season.

But that isn’t the case. These games mean a ton.

The Chiefs, fresh off a five-quarter win last week over the Broncos, visit the Falcons with a chance to overtake the Raiders for the second seed in the AFC bracket. The Chiefs have the tiebreaker from beating the Raiders back in October, but the teams meet again next Thursday to start Week 14. The Falcons might need this game even more, as they look to keep pace with the Buccaneers in the NFC South.

The Giants and Steelers will be in similar positions when they face off, as both teams cannot afford to take losses this late into the season. The Steelers are currently out of the playoffs because of a tiebreaker with Baltimore, and need to finish ahead of Baltimore before the teams face off on Christmas.

With a Seattle or Tampa loss today, the Cowboys can clinch a playoff spot, making them the first team to clinch a postseason spot for this season.

After this week, it’s all about the divisional races. Buckle up.
