Update: TMZ.com reports that the WWE has chosen to reinstate Emma. 411Mania.com noted that “the company (WWE) was besieged with comments on the initial WWE.com news article announcing her firing by people pointing out the hypocrisy of releasing Emma while keeping Cameron, who a couple of years ago had a DUI where she reportedly tried to bribe the police officer. Whether that played a factor or not isn’t known.”
NXT star and now main WWE roster member Emma has been caught doing something fans are just shocked by – she got arrested for reportedly stealing from a Walmart. It’s hard to fathom why a supposedly well paid WWE superstar would have to resort to stealing, but there’s a ton of details surrounding this surprising story.
Here’s everything you need to know about Emma’s arrest and subsequent charges.
1. Emma Was Arrested for Reportedly Stealing an iPad Case from Walmart
WWE Diva Emma (real name, Tenille Dashwood) was taken into custody while in town for last Monday Night RAW’s taping (June 30, 2014) in Hartford, Connecticut. She was charged with 6th degree larceny for stealing an iPad case from a local Walmart in the Hartford area.
The Hartford Police Department recently issued an official statement on Emma’s arrest:
On June 30, 2014 at approximately 1:00pm, Hartford Police Officers were contacted by Walmart Security (asset protection) Officers regarding a potential Larceny/shoplifter. Based on the investigation by HPD, Tenille A. Dashwood, 25, of Australia and Winter Park Fl. was arrested and charged with Larceny in the 6th degree, with a referral to the Hartford Community Court. Dashwood was booked at HPD and issued a WPTA. The unpaid item for which the larceny charge was applied was an “iHome ‘Slim Swivel’ iPad mini case” color red with a value of $21.14. Mug shot attached.
2. Emma’s Lawyer Says This Was All Just a Simple Mistake
TMZ.com reported that Emma’s lawyer (Hubert Santos) chalked up her crime to an “innocent mistake.” He noted that Emma simply forgot to pay for the iPad case while she in the process of navigating through the self-checkout aisle. She had already purchased close to $30 worth of items, but it was reported that she forgot to properly pay for the iPad case on her way out.
3. She’s Already Been Issued Her Punishment in Court
Emma went into court on Tuesday (July 1, 2014) and was issued her official punishment for her crime – she was ordered to perform one day of community service. Once completed, the charges for her shoplifting crime will automatically be dropped. She’s also be told to complete an online course in order to fully dismiss her charges.
4. The WWE Has Issued a Statement on Emma’s Arrest and Released Her From Her Contract
Emma’s employers, World Wrestling Entertainment, have issued an offical statement on her crime and employment status with the company:
WWE is aware that Tenille Dashwood (WWE Diva Emma) was arrested for shoplifting. Ms. Dashwood is ultimately responsible for her personal actions. WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Diva Emma as of today, July 2, 2014. WWE wishes Emma the best in all her future endeavors.
