The Rays recalled Booser from Triple-A Durham on Sunday. Booser was added to the Rays' 40-man roster by the end of spring training after he had attended camp as a non-roster invitee, but he remained in the minors for the first two-plus months of the season before getting the call to the big leagues. The 34-year-old southpaw is likely to initially work in middle relief for Tampa Bay after accruing a 1.80 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 24:5 K:BB across 20 innings in 23 appearances for Durham.

Cameron Booser: Breaking News
Optioned after addition to 40-man
The Rays selected Booser's contract from Triple-A Durham on Wednesday and optioned him to Durham. Presumably, Booser had an opt-out in his minor-league contract, and the Rays added him to their 40-man roster to prevent the reliever from exercising that clause. Booser holds a 4.28 ERA and 78:35 K:BB over 73.2 innings at the big-league level.
Won't make Opening Day roster
The Rays informed Booser on Saturday that he won't be included on the team's Opening Day roster, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Booser gave up just one earned run and struck out nine batters over nine innings in the Grapefruit League, but despite his best efforts, he won't break camp with the big-league club. It's unknown whether he will opt to enter free agency or stick with the organization, but a decision is expected to come within the next few days.
