The Marlins outrighted Winkler to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday. Winkler will remain in the Marlins' organization, but he'll be removed from the 40-man roster. The 27-year-old infielder made 14 appearances with Miami in 2025, going 4-for-16 with two doubles, two runs scored and a stolen base.
Winkler was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, per MLB's transactions log. Winkler appeared in three games since his promotion Sept. 5, going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles. He'll head back to the minors to make room for the return of Connor Norby (quadriceps), Graham Pauley (oblique), Dane Myers (oblique) and Tyler Phillips (paternity list).
The Marlins selected Winkler's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday. Miami designated Winkler for assignment last month, but he's back on the 40-man roster. He took 12 plate appearances for the Marlins earlier this season and slashed .167/.167/.333 with one stolen base and a 0:4 BB:K.
