Jimmy Herget: Breaking News

The Rockies sent Herget (shoulder) to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment. Herget has been out for nearly a month with a right shoulder impingement, but he's been cleared to return to game action. The side-armer will likely require at least a couple rehab appearances before rejoining the Rockies' bullpen. Herger has posted a 5.06 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB in 16 innings this season.

Herget (shoulder) was cleared to resume playing catch May 24, MLB.com reports. Herget is in the process of ramping up his throwing after he was placed on the injured list May 14 due to a right shoulder impingement. The 32-year-old righty had been one of the Rockies' key setup men prior to landing on the shelf, notching three holds and one save while logging a 5.06 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB in 16 innings over 15 appearances.

The Rockies placed Herget on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a right shoulder impingement, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Herget just returned from the bereavement list Tuesday and is now out for at least the next couple weeks. Tanner Gordon will absorb Herget's spot on the Rockies' active roster.
