Vest (2-4) pitched a scoreless inning of relief to earn the win in Sunday's 5-4 victory over the Mariners. He allowed a hit and struck out one. Vest worked through the top of the ninth inning on 10 pitches, then secured his second win of the year when the Tigers scored twice in the bottom half to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 5-4 win. The veteran righty has had a bumpy season, and a five-run outing back on May 26 is a big reason he's sitting with an inflated 6.53 ERA. However, with Kenley Jansen (pelvis) on the injured list, Vest is Detroit's most experienced healthy reliever, and he should continue to see high-leverage work as a result.

William Vest: Breaking News
Allows run but secures first save
Vest allowed a run on two hits across 1.2 innings of relief but managed to secure the save in Monday's 10-9 win over the Rays. He struck out two. With Kyle Finnegan recording a blown save in four of his last nine appearances and Kenley Jansen (pelvis) on the injured list, the Tigers turned to Vest to close things out Monday. The veteran righty allowed at least one run for the third time in his last five games and now has an unsightly 7.23 ERA, but he still managed to shut the door for his first save of the year. Finnegan worked earlier in the contest, and both he and Vest could continue to get save opportunities for however long Jansen is out, making this a tricky bullpen for fantasy purposes.
Blows save Wednesday
Vest allowed a run on two hits across an inning of work and was charged with a blown save in Wednesday's 3-2, 10-inning loss to the Guardians. He struck out one. The Tigers decided to use regular closer Kenley Jansen in the eighth inning against the top of Cleveland's lineup to protect a 1-0 lead. That left the ninth for Vest, and the veteran allowed the lead to slip away on a pair of hits and an RBI groundout. Vest has struggled this year with a 5.93 ERA across 13.2 innings, which should leave no doubt that Jensen is ahead of him in the bullpen pecking order moving forward.
