Ryan Reynolds is dominating the media these days, hitting the publicity trail for his upcoming movie Deadpool which is trending on YouTube for its own advertisements. Reynolds also appears, many many times, in the 2017 Hyundai Elantra Super Bowl commercial shown in the video above.
The ad welcomes us to the fictional but fantastical town of Ryanville, populated by Ryan Reynolds in countless forms. He is riding a bike, playing football with several other Ryans on a lawn, appearing as both a cop and the guy who got pulled over for a speeding ticket. En Vogue‘s song “Whatta Man” plays while two women riding in a shiny blue Elantra drive through the Ryan-heavy neighborhood. Sexual innuendos abound, particularly when construction worker Ryan is jack hammering into the ground while making slow motion eye contact with our ladies. Ryan Reynolds will drive you wild.
It’s easy to see how the driver gets distracted by all these hot Ryans, however the commercial wants to show us that the Elantra has safety features such as Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection. This prevents our girls from hitting the Ryan Reynolds crossing the street with several pooches in tow while they’re too busy staring dreamily at the other Ryan Reynolds. Thankfully, Ryan’s face is not digitally imposed onto the dogs.
There’s no word yet on whether Ryan’s wife Blake Lively is packing up to move to Ryanville. The ad has another charming actor whose face we never see: Paul Rudd, who has had a similar career to Ryan’s in that they have both become romantic comedy leads and they’ve both played comic book superheroes. Rudd does the voice-over for the commercial at the end, as he has been doing for other Hyundai cars.
