Just like everyone predicted: The Orioles and Royals are squaring off in the American League Championship Series.
Baltimore and Kansas City, who have gone a combined 46 years without appearing in the ALCS, will battle for the A.L. pennant beginning Friday in Baltimore.
The O’s, champions of the A.L. East, beat the Tigers 2-1 to advance. Kansas City, which needed a 12-inning, come-from-behind win over Oakland in the American League Wild Card game just to get to the ALDS, swept the Los Angeles Angels — who finished the regular season with the best record in baseball — and advanced to their first ALCS since they won the World Series in 1985.
Both teams will be rewarded for making quick work of their opponents with four days off before Game 1 of the ALCS, which will be played at Camden Yards in Baltimore.
If the regular season is any kind of indicator, we’re in for a competitive series. The teams played seven times, with the Royals narrowly winning the season series 4-3.
