The Texans hope to solve some of these problems when the Buccaneers visit NRG Stadium on Sunday. It’s the second start for Ryan Mallett, who replaced Brian Hoyer after three quarters of football this season.
The leash should still be short for Mallett, who despite starting his first game this season threw a whopping 58 times against Carolina last week. The Texans were an abysmal 5/19 on third down, yet still had the ball late with a chance to tie the game.
In Tampa, the Bucs seesawed in their first two weeks under Lovie Smith, notching an impressive win over the Saints after an embarrassing opening day loss.
