There was a scary moment during Thursday night’s game between Cincinnati and Memphis, as Bearcats quarterback Gunner Kiel attempted to scramble and was knocked motionless after a big hit from cornerback Chauncey Lanier.
The hit can be seen in full speed above. Here’s another look in slow motion:
SB Nation provided a different angle:
Kiel, who suffered a head injury last week vs. Miami, was eventually taken off on a stretcher and after some time in the locker room, he was taken to the hospital to be evaluated. ESPN sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung reported he was communicating with medical officials and moving his toes, and Cincinnati’s athletic program later provided more good news, saying he could move all four limbs.
Lanier was originally ejected for targeting, but after reviewing the players, officials overturned that decision.
