Rafa Benitez will be desperate for a win Wednesday, when Madrid look to rebound from Clasico failures with a win against Ukranian side Shakhtar.

Job security won’t have any effect on Benitez as a manager. He’s still the conservative manager that has frustrated Ronaldo and Madrid fans alike all season. But despite Ronaldo’s lack of scoring and Madrid’s recent shortcomings, club president Florentino Perez gave his full support to the manager in a press conference earlier this week.

“It was a very bad performance, we all saw that but these things can happen. It was a horrible game but it was just one game,” Perez told reporters earlier this week.

“If we let Benitez work I am sure we will win things.”

Benitez can back those words starting with three points Wednesday. Madrid is still three points clear in Group A, and can clinch the top spot with a positive result and a PSG draw or loss.
