Two of the winningest head coaches in NFL history will face off in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs Saturday afternoon.
The New England Patriots‘ Bill Belichick is fifth all-time in wins, while the Kansas City Chiefs‘ Andy Reid is 16th.
There’s going to be a whole lot of experience on the sidelines Saturday:
Bill Belichick: 21 years; 223-113 (.664) in regular season; 22-9 (.710) in postseason; six conference championships; four Super Bowls
Andy Reid: 17 years; 161-110 (.594) in regular season; 10-10 (.500) in postseason; one conference championship; zero Super Bowls
Belichick won all four matchups when Reid was with the Eagles, while Reid has won the only head-to-head battle while with Chiefs. Here’s a complete look at the history:
September 14, 2003: Patriots 31, Eagles 10
After an embarrassing 31-0 defeat to start the 2003 season, Belichick and the Pats bounced back in a big way against Reid and the Eagles. Playing in Philadelphia, Tom Brady threw for 255 yards and three touchdowns, while the Pats picked off Donovan McNabb twice and forced an astounding six turnovers.
New England would finished the season 14-2 and win its second Super Bowl under Belichick, while the Eagles would finish 12-4 and fall to the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Conference Championship.
February 6, 2005: Patriots 24, Eagles 21
The biggest of the Belichick-Reid matchups: Super Bowl XXXIX.
With the game tied after three quarters, the Pats scored 10 straight points in the fourth, only for Philly to pull within three with 1:48 remaining. A potential game-tying or game-winning drive came to end when McNabb threw his third interception of the game, though, giving the Pats their third Super Bowl in four seasons.
November 25, 2007: Patriots 31, Eagles 28

A.J. Feeley, who was replacing the injured McNabb, connected with Reggie Brown late in the third quarter to give the Eagles a 28-24 lead, but Laurence Maroney’s four-yard touchdown run put the Pats back in front late in the fourth. The Eagles’ final two possessions would end in interceptions, giving Feeley three on the day and making it 13 turnovers for Andy Reid’s teams in three games against Belichick’s teams.
New England would proceed to run its record to 18-0 before losing to the New York Giants in the Super Bowl, while the Eagles sputtered to an 8-8 season.
November 27, 2011: Patriots 38, Eagles 20
Tom Brady threw for 361 yards and three touchdowns, while Vince Young–yes, that Vince Young–tallied 440 total yards and a score in the defeat.
Again, the Patriots would lose to the Giants in the Super Bowl that season, while the Eagles finished 8-8. Reid would only last one more season after that in the City of Brotherly Love.
September 29, 2014: Chiefs 41, Patriots 14

Reid’s revenge. In his second season in Kansas City, the Chiefs dismantled the struggling Patriots, out-gaining them, 443-290, and forcing three turnovers in the blowout victory.
Many thought it was the beginning of the end for Brady, who struggled for the fourth-game in a row to start the 2014 season, but he quickly did a 180 and eventually led the Pats to a Super Bowl win over the Seattle Seahawksandy . Coincidentally enough, that means New England has been to the Super Bowl every season Belichick and Reid have faced off.
