Jeff Gordon came out of retirement to fill in for the injured Dale Earnhardt Jr. last week in the Brickyard 400.

While it was odd seeing the future Hall of Famer in the No. 88 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, Gordon didn’t look too rusty as he placed 13th in the race won by Kyle Busch.

So will Gordon be behind the wheel this weekend when the Sprint Cup Series hits Pocono Raceway for the Pennsylvania 400? Yes, he will be.

Gordon will be in the No. 88 once again at the Tricky Triangle, a track where both he and Earnhardt Jr. have enjoyed plenty of success recently. Over the past 5 races at Pocono, Dale Jr. has 2 wins, 4 top 10s and hasn’t finished worse than 11th. Gordon, in his No. 24 car now driven by Chase Elliott, has 3 top 10s in last 4 races there.

In 46 career races on the 2.5-mile track in Pennsylvania, Gordon has won 6 times and has 20 top 5 finishes.

Qualifying is set for Friday at 4:15 p.m. Eastern and will be televised by NBC Sports Network (NBCSN).

Green flag time for Sunday’s race is approximately 1:50 p.m. ET. The race can also be watched on NBCSN.

As for Junior, his return date is unknown at this time as he’s been suffering from concussion-like symptoms. Earnhardt said on his weekly podcast that it might take a bit longer than expected to resume driving. As of now, no driver decision has been made for the race at Watkins Glen on August 7.
