Against all odds, Barcelona have advanced to their tenth consecutive Champions League quarterfinal. But what awaits them is a Juventus team that is ready for European glory, and another daunting away trip in the first leg.
Barcelona visited Paris in the first leg of their Round of 16 pairing, and that resulted in a 4-0 disaster showing. Now facing the best defensive team in the tournament, Barcelona cannot afford to dig such a deep hole in the first leg.
Juventus have only allowed two goals in Champions League this season, and are unbeaten in 17 consecutive Champions League matches at home. There is added incentive for Juve, as their last meeting against Barcelona was a 3-1 defeat in the 2015 final of this competition.
In that meeting, Dani Alves started for Barcelona as they raised the cup in Berlin. Alves is now pursuing a treble in Italy, and will start against his former club Tuesday night.
