The Super 8 stage of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup is complete. After two rounds of intense matches, there are only four teams remaining.

Twenty teams started the competition, but now, only India, England, New Zealand, and South Africa remain. These four squads will compete in the semi-finals and final to be crowned 2026 World Cup Champions. India won the last World Cup in 2024.

This kind of intensity is only found in MLB World Series play and in the NFL, NHL, and NBA playoffs. This is the kind of cricket that fans of other sports should be introduced to, in order to understand and appreciate the work that goes into being a cricket athlete.

Here are the final scores, Player of the Match awards, highlights, and other notable facts & stats from the March 1st matches between India & West Indies and Zimbabwe & South Africa.

While the victory was a true team effort, the biggest individual effort for India in the match came from Sanju Samson. He put together an impressive knock, nearly hitting a century while adding in a dozen boundaries and a few maximums for good measure.

Perhaps the most impressive thing was that the wicketkeeper came out to bat as part of the opening partnership and would still be batting when India’s innings ended. Truly a singular batting performance, successfully completing the highest chase of India’s T20 World Cup History.
