The Boston Red Sox rallied in the ninth inning on Saturday to defeat the San Francisco Giants 3-2 and take the first two games of the series.
Now, ahead of Sunday’s series finale, Red Sox manager Chad Tracy has made a few notable changes to his lineup, including one involving speedy outfielder Jarren Duran.
Red Sox Announce Duran Decision
After starting each of the first two games of the series, Duran will be out of the starting lineup for Sunday’s finale. He recorded two hits on Friday before going 0-for-3 on Saturday.
Eli White will start in his place in left field, while Ceddanne Rafaela will remain in center and Wilyer Abreu will continue in right.

Duran’s 2026 Season
Two seasons ago, Duran earned his first All-Star selection and went on to win All-Star Game MVP.
Fast forward to 2026, and his future in Boston could be uncertain.
He’s currently batting .207 with 58 runs, 96 hits, 17 home runs and 62 RBIs while slugging .363 with a .628 OPS across 121 games and 511 at-bats.
Duran could find himself in more of a platoon role down the stretch, especially with Roman Anthony nearing his return from injury. Anthony has already begun a minor league rehab assignment and could rejoin Boston in the near future.

Boston enters Sunday with a 70-59 record, which puts the Red Sox among the top teams in the American League.
The Red Sox will begin a series in Miami against the Marlins on Monday before traveling to the Bronx for a series against the New York Yankees next week.
