The Miami Heat are going to try to land a superstar player in the offseason. They will be looking to make a big trade in order to get that done. Had they had some lottery luck, the offseason would look very different. They might have even tried to keep the pick.
Instead, the Heat stayed at 13th in the draft lottery. That was expected, but it also hurts their chances of being able to use that pick in a trade. It also means that they will have to include more players in any trade package for a superstar in return. That includes Tyler Herro.
A trade proposal from Bleacher Report has the Heat landing superstar guard Donovan Mitchell in a package centered around Herro.

Heat Land Donovan Mitchell in Proposed Trade Idea
Here is the full proposed trade package:
Miami Heat Receive: Donovan Mitchell
Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, the No. 13 pick, and a 2032 first-round pick
If Cleveland can’t advance past the Pistons in the second round of the playoffs, all options are on the table for the franchise. They will likely have to blow up their core. It’s a core that would have failed to make the Eastern Conference Finals at any point.
Mitchell is the best player that the Cavaliers have. That also makes him one of their best trade assets. Miami would be trading a lot of young talent in the hopes that Mitchell would be able to have a good partnership with Bam Adebayo. Their future would be turned upside down in this trade.
Miami is not afraid to go all in to win games now. Pat Riley made that clear at his end-of-the-year press conference. As he is aging, he wants the team to be as competitive as possible. This is a package that probably gives up too much, though.

Miami Will be Hunting for Stars this Summer
The Heat will be having a lot of conversations with teams this offseason. Having a lottery pick in a loaded draft gives them a little bit of hope that they can flip that for the star they desperately seek. Of course, which players they are willing to give up will also matter in any trade.
Herro is still the best asset they have. Riley has made it clear they are not trading Adebayo. That means that Herro is on the trade block for the third year in a row. It doesn’t seem like too many other teams are interested in him after he has been made available for this long.
The Heat will try to get in on the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes. If they strike out with him, they will keep searching. Miami believes they are a premier destination that players want to play. This summer will be their chance to prove that truth.
