The Dallas Cowboys, for years, have leaned on wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to be their top guy until last season.
While Lamb has posted five straight seasons of 1,000 yards, there is still a lingering problem he has dealt with: drops. Last year, he had eight drops, which was tied for the highest in his six-year NFL career. That’s because he’s done it two other times in his career.
At some point, Lamb has to have some kind of plan to make sure this doesn’t keep happening. He might have an idea on how to get it done.

Lamb appeared on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas to talk about his recent drop issues in games and into training camp. He shared how he plans to fix the problem and identified why it was happening so much.
“I just gotta focus up. I’m always thinking about a big play,” Lamb said via The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “Naturally, it’s caught, it’s caught, it’s caught, it’s caught, right? But then it becomes so normal that you lose track of the fundamentals. It always brings me back to square one. Catch, tuck, then make your move. Catch, tuck, then make your move. Catch, tuck, then make your move.”
“Every single drop has been always taking my eyes off the ball when the ball arrived because I’m automatically thinking I caught it. It’s just a way of the game humbling me and bringing me back to square one.”
Lamb has never had a season where he was below six drops in one year. He has 43 total drops in his six-year NFL career.
His other career numbers stack up a lot better than the drops. In 95 games, he has caught 571 passes for 7,416 yards and 41 touchdowns. He’s been selected to the Pro Bowl five years in a row and was a first-team All-Pro in 2023.

A lot of the pressure Lamb had felt over the years was relieved with George Pickens’s arrival. It showed in Lamb’s numbers, dipping to 1,077 yards, the lowest since his rookie season. His three touchdowns in 2025 were the lowest of his NFL career.
This season should work similarly, with Pickens getting more attention than Lamb. With that being said, Lamb will still be heavily involved in the passing game.
That’s why it’s important for him to turn the page on the drops and become a more reliable receiver. Once he can figure out how to do that, he will be a more elite receiver in the NFL.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has a lot of trust in Lamb and will give him his targets. With Super Bowl aspirations in sight for 2026, it’s on Lamb to take advantage of every target he gets and make the catch.
