ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Baltimore Ravens told the Las Vegas Raiders they are no longer trading for edge rusher Maxx Crosby.

The Dallas Cowboys are not out of the Maxx Crosby sweepstakes after all.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the Baltimore Ravens told the Las Vegas Raiders they no longer agree to the trade for Crosby.

League insider Mike Garafolo reported on NFL Network the Ravens have cancelled the trade because of a failed physical.

The fallout from the called out Crosby trade was just beginning Tuesday night. It will likely have huge ramifications across the league.

But plain and simple, Crosby is available to be traded somewhere else. Before the Ravens landed him in their handshake agreement with the Raiders, the Cowboys were one of the final teams trying to acquire the All-Pro edge rusher.

Ravens Cancel Crosby Trade Over Failed Physical: Report

The Raiders and Ravens agreed to a blockbuster deal on March 6 to send Crosby to Baltimore. In return, the Ravens were parting with their 2026 and 2027 first-round choices.

Over the past four days, business has conducted as usual for the Raiders and Ravens. Both teams began agreeing, in principle, to contracts with free agents on Monday and Tuesday.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported Tuesday night, though, that a failed physical has Crosby going back to Las Vegas.

“All NFL trades require players involved to pass a physical before becoming official. Trades can be agreed to but not finalized until the opening of the new league year, which arrives Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.”

The last sentence is crucial to understanding why the Ravens have the ability to cancel the Crosby trade. All trades agreed to during the early part of the offseason aren’t officially completed until the new league year begins.

That is 4 pm ET Wednesday.

Russini added more details about Crosby’s failed physical on social media Tuesday night.

“After Maxx Crosby underwent testing today at the Ravens’ facility, Baltimore made the decision as an organization that it could not move forward with the deal based on the results of the medical,” wrote Russini.

“Crosby will remain a Raider for now as other teams can weigh any potential risk that comes with trading for him.”

In her article breaking the news, Russini suggested Crosby’s failed physical stemmed from the knee surgery he underwent at the end of the 2025 NFL season. Crosby didn’t play for the Raiders in the final two games of the campaign.

However, it’s not 100% clear as of 8:51 pm ET if Crosby’s knee was the reason he failed a physical.

Could Cowboys Trade for Maxx Crosby?

As previously stated, this is a development that could have major ramifications across the entire league.

Not only have the Ravens and Raiders conducted business during the legal tampering period assuming the Crosby trade was done, so has every other NFL team.

The Cowboys, who were close to acquiring Crosby, turned to secondary options. One of those included trading for edge rusher Rashan Gary from the Green Bay Packers.

But here’s the kicker — that trade isn’t official either. Neither is any of the free agent “signings” the Cowboys or any other teams have done the past two days.

All of those decisions become official at 4 pm ET Wednesday

Could the Cowboys back out of the Gary trade or another free agent contract to trade for Crosby? At least in theory, yes.

Or, could the Cowboys still trade for Crosby with those new additions in place?

Of course, Crosby’s failed physical will be an enormous factor as to whether the Cowboys and other suitors are still interested.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on Saturday the Cowboys offered a first and second-round pick for Crosby. That offer may be enough for Crosby now, but perhaps Dallas could land him for less if the Raiders have to quickly offload Crosby’s contract before 4 pm ET Wednesday.

There’s numerous factors to consider with Crosby and not many answers Tuesday night. But if the Cowboys still want him, he is available.
