The Denver Broncos’ mission is clear, and quarterback Bo Nix did not mince words in expressing what that goal is heading into the 2025 regular-season finale against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Nix and the Broncos own the best record in the AFC and are tied for the top mark in the NFL.

Again, though, that is hardly the end-goal for the Broncos, but they can chart their course with a win in Week 18.

Bo Nix: Home-Field Advantage Broncos’ ‘Main Focus’

Nix was asked about the Broncos’ opportunity to clinch the No. 1 seed in the playoffs with a win over the Chargers in the regular-season finale.

He was crystal clear.

“It’s huge. I think that’s our main focus right now. It’s the best chance, best position we could put ourselves in, and I think that’s the next challenge for us. And it’s going to be important for us this week,” Nix told reporters on December 31.

“We got to make sure that we’re practicing hard and playing to earn that, and I think we’ve put ourself in a great spot, obviously. And we just got one more to finish it.”

Moreover, Nix believes he and the Broncos are trending up at the right time.

“We’ve been tested, and I would say I’ve gotten better and better as the season’s gone on,” Nix said. “Ever since our break, with Kansas City going on break, and the last several games against good defenses, we’ve been challenged, and we’ve been able to continue to hit strides and grow as an offense. And I feel good where I’m at, but got to continue to strive for more.”

Bo Nix Comfortable in the Clutch

Nix was asked about leading the NFL in game-winning drives this season, and the Broncos QB made it clear that it was not an accident that he and his team were able to emerge victorious more often than not.

He noted that part of it is the Broncos being close enough to capitalize, but it boiled down to a simple factor.

That factor is desire.

“At the end of the day, it’s just all about who wants it at the end of the game. Who wants the football, who wants to make the play, who wants to make the block, who wants to make the tackle on defense, whatever it may be. It’s just a competitive edge. I think you just got to want to be in that position. You got to train to be in that position,” Nix said, noting that he and the Broncos do just that.

“We prepare for it. We want to be clutch in those situations. And everybody wants to be a clutch player, or answer the bell, answer the call when the game is on the line. And so, you just got to prepare for those moments. You got to put yourself in those situations.”

Broncos Winning Without Gaudy Numbers in Passing Game

Nix said his job is to get the offense into the end zone. He is tied for the fifth-most touchdown passes entering Week 18.

However, he has thrown multiple touchdowns once in the Broncos’ last seven outings.

The Broncos are 6-1 in those games, though. Moreover, Nix is not worried about how the Broncos win. His concern is doing whatever it takes to secure the victory each week. He said he was encouraged by what the Broncos have shown in recent weeks.

“Just overall excited where we are as an offense. I feel like the last several weeks, we’ve done quick drives, we’ve done long drives,” Nix said.

“Whatever we got to do to get the ball in the end zone.”
