NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported the Green Bay Packers requested to interview Arizona Cardinals pass game specialist Connor Senger, who coached under new Packers DC Jonathan Gannon.

The Green Bay Packers have become a potential landing spot for former Arizona Cardinals defensive assistants because the team hired Jonathan Gannon as defensive coordinator. Gannon served as Cardinals head coach from 2023-25.

But the Packers are now also pursuing an offensive assistant from Gannon’s tenure in Arizona.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the Packers requested to interview Cardinals pass game specialist Connor Senger. Green Bay would like to interview Senger for its open quarterbacks coach role.

The Buffalo Bills also requested to interview Senger for the same job on their coaching staff.

“A former college QB, Senger called plays at this week’s East-West Shrine Bowl,” Pelissero wrote on X on Friday. “He’s only 30.”

Senger joined the Cardinals a year prior to Gannon’s arrival in Arizona. Then in 2023, Senger became the team’s offensive quality control coach.

The 30-year-old coach received title promotions each of the past two years. In 2024, he served as Cardinals assistant quarterbacks coach. This past season, he was the team’s passing game coordinator.

Packers to Interview Connor Senger for QB Coach Role: Report

Senger has previously been a quarterbacks coach at the college level. He began his coaching career at Wisconsin-Oshkosh as the QBs coach. Senger held the same role at Carroll in 2018.

The 30-year-old served in assistant roles at two other lower-level college programs from 2019-21. He then made the jump to the NFL with the Cardinals through the Bill Bidwell Fellowship.

The Cardinals established the fellowship to promote diversity and coaching opportunities for minorities at the highest level.

With Senger as its passing game coordinator, Arizona finished seventh in passing yards last season. Although the Cardinals led the NFL in passing attempts, they were a top 10 passing offense despite Jacoby Brissett starting behind center most of the season.

Packers Targeting Former Jonathan Gannon Assistants

It’s ironic the Packers are tapping into the connections the organization now has with Gannon on staff. Green Bay lost multiple defensive assistants because defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley left to become the Miami Dolphins head coach.

Since hiring Gannon on January 25, the Packers added Sam Siefkes as linebackers coach. Siefkes coached linebackers under Gannon with the Cardinals from 2023-24.

Green Bay also hired former Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Bobby Babich. He will serve as the team’s secondary coach and defensive passing game coordinator.

The Packers have other coaching positions to fill, particularly on defense. Hafley brought linebackers coach Sean Duggan, defensive backs coach Ryan Downard, defensive quality control coach Wendel Davis and defensive passing game coordinator Derrick Ansley to Miami.

With Siefkes and Babich, Green Bay has replaced Duggan and Ansley.

The Packers are also interviewing candidates for quarterbacks coach because of Sean Mannion’s exit. The Philadelphia Eagles hired Mannion as offensive coordinator Friday.

Mannion was on Green Bay’s staff for two years. He was an offensive assistant in 2024 before becoming the quarterbacks coach in 2025.
