The Seattle Seahawks dominated the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl LX on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium.
And while that crushing defeat was reason enough for Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs to want to forget Sunday’s game, what happened at the beginning of the fourth quarter is also a moment he’d like to block out.
Diggs caught just 3 passes for 37 yards in the Super Bowl, marking the fourth time in the postseason he had 40 yards or fewer. He was roasted on social media for the little impact he made on the game, and he also went viral for an altercation he got into with one Seahawks player.

Diggs’ most memorable moment in Sunday’s game came on a play in which he didn’t even touch the ball.
On a pass play in which he wasn’t targeted, Diggs ran a route close to the right sideline. Though he clearly wasn’t involved in the play, Diggs took a hard shot from Seahawks cornerback Josh Jobe while out of bounds.
Jobe came up and shoved Diggs to the ground full force. He popped back up to his feet, ran after Jobe, and grabbed him by the facemask and proceeded to engage in a shouting match.
Jobe’s aggressive actions are likely to lead to NFL punishment once the league reviews the film, as he also threw a punch at Diggs and also made contact with an NFL official. No penalty was called on either player, but NBC rules analyst Terry McAuly stated the officials clearly missed a penalty.
“[Diggs is] clearly out of bounds,” McAuly said. “[Jobe] knocks him down. He absolutely should’ve been penalized.”
Jobe could be looking at a hefty fine for his actions.
He could be fined for three different offenses — making contact with an official ($40,686 for first offense), striking, kicking, tripping or kneeing an opponent ($12,172 for first offense), and a late hit ($11,593 for first offense). Jobe’s penalty total could reach $64,451.
Diggs Blasted for Super Bowl Struggles
The former All-Pro wideout was praised throughout the season for being the missing piece of the wide receiver corps.
Diggs totaled 85 catches on 103 targets for 1,013 yards, and 4 touchdowns this year — the seventh 1,000-yard season of his career. He was New England’s first 1,000-yard WR since Julian Edelman in 2019.
But despite his strong season, which included five 100-yard games, Diggs did a disappearing act of sorts in the Patriots’ biggest game of the year. And because he played so poorly, fans on social media didn’t hesitate to let him hear about it.
“Does Stefon Diggs still play for the Patriots?,” one user asked.
“Now that the season is over. That Stefon Diggs contract gotta go! Cut him,” a fan exclaimed.
“Stefon Diggs got [expletive] locked up tonight. Poetry is everywhere, if you’re willing to read it,” another fan scoffed.
“Nothing makes me happier than the fact Stefon Diggs lost in the Superbowl,” remarked another user.
“Stefon Diggs prolly gon delete his social media for the next year , they are cooking this (guy) so bad omg,” another user replied.
