The New York Giants have been hard at work this offseason, and the majority of their moves have been met with positive feedback from fans. The team’s decision to hire John Harbaugh as its new head coach has been viewed as a major win, and he’s begun building out his coaching staff since being brought to town by New York.

On Sunday, one of the team’s players, veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, found himself in a bit of controversy. With a new batch of files linked to notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein coming to light, fans were surprised to see Wilson’s name pop up in a couple of email communications. After seeing this get revealed on social media, Wilson quickly responded to his involvement in these emails.

Russell Wilson Explains Inclusion in Epstein Files

Last offseason, the Giants signed Wilson in free agency to act as the bridge quarterback for the team. With Jaxson Dart developing behind the scenes, Wilson was New York’s starter under center to begin the year. In three starts, though, Wilson struggled, and he ended up getting replaced by Dart far sooner than expected.

Prior to his time with the Giants, Wilson was widely known as one of the best quarterbacks in the league during his time with the Seattle Seahawks. He quickly fell off a cliff after getting traded to the Denver Broncos, and while he was a Pro Bowler in 2024 while with the Pittsburgh Steelers, it was still clear that he was not the player he once was.

Wilson has become a controversial figure in the NFL, thanks to his struggles on the field. However, he found himself in some hot water for his off-the-field actions when it appeared as if he was attempting to buy a plane belonging to Epstein in new files that were recently released to the public. Wilson quickly shot down that notion, though, as he claims that someone was trying to sell him a plane. He had no idea the plane belonged to Epstein, and he did not end up buying it.

“NOPE!!! ABSOLUTELY NOT! Not TODAY satan!” Wilson said in a post on X in response to his name being brought up in the Epstein files. “Some Random plane broker tried to sell me a plane. I had no idea whose plane and never bought the plane. Never talked nor Never met the man. Thank God!!! 🙌🏾”

Russell Wilson’s Future with Giants Uncertain as Offseason Gets Underway

Wilson simply seems to have been approached about buying a plane from an unknown person, which led to him not following through on the purchase. Considering how Wilson isn’t really mentioned elsewhere in the files the public has access to, it appears that he had no contract with Epstein at any point in time.

What the future holds for Wilson on the football field is unknown. He’s set to hit the open market again, and considering how poorly he played for New York in 2025, it seems unlikely it will look to re-sign him. Whether or not any team will be interested in Wilson is unknown, and it’s fair to wonder if he has already played the last snap of his NFL career.
