The Vancouver Canucks continue to make waves this season. Canucks rumors have continued to flow as the season heads into the Olympic break. Some interesting chatter has begun to pick up around who’s available in Vancouver and who isn’t.

So, here’s a look at the latest chatter in Vancouver.

Canucks Rumors: Insider Hints at Untouchables in Vancouver

For all the talk surrounding the players the Canucks are likely to trade, there hasn’t been much talk about potential untouchables.

That’s a topic that insider David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period discussed during an appearance on Inside Sports. The insider noted that a handful of players could be among the untouchables in Vancouver. Pagnotta pointed to about ten players, including some names hitting Canucks rumors, who likely won’t go.

“Really the only guys that I get a sense of really don’t have a shot at being moved right now: Kevin Lankinen, Brock Boeser, Marcus Pettersson, Filip Hronek; Tyler Myers; the guys they got from Minnesota.”

It’s interesting to see that Kevin Lankinen and not Thatcher Demko would be a key piece in Vancouver. Then again, some Canucks rumors have suggested that Demko could be on the block. His injury history, notwithstanding, could make it challenging to trade him. Plus, his incoming contract would make it very attractive for teams to take a chance of the oft-injured goalie.

Beyond Lankinen, Brock Boeser and Filip Hronek make the most sense in staying. While there has been talk about their availability, it just wouldn’t make sense to trade them now. They could be key players in the team’s rebuild.

Lastly, Marcus Pettersson, who got an extension at the end of last season, and Tyler Myers, who’s been a veteran leader, could make up the blueline core moving forward.

As for the players obtained in the Quinn Hughes trade, they will be essentially in the younger core down the line. Zeev Buium and Marco Rossi, specifically, would be unfathomable to include in Canucks rumors.

Price Tag for Evander Kane Revealed

Another key name in Canucks rumors has been Evander Kane. The impending UFA has circulated among chatter around the league. According to Pagnotta, the Canucks could be willing to retain as much as 50% of his cap hit.

That situation would make the price tag a little higher. Pagnotta believes the Canucks would like to get a solid draft pick or prospect in return. Perhaps a first-round pick might not be out of the question, only if a team becomes desperate enough for a forward.

Otherwise, it would be safe to assume the Canucks rumors moving forward would posit Vancouver getting something more like a second or third-round pick. Perhaps a combination of late-round picks, like a couple of fifth-rounders or a fourth and sixth-rounder might get the deal across the line.

Regarding a prospect, the Canucks could take a chance on a stagnant prospect another team might have given up on.

It will be interesting to see what Canucks rumors emerge in the lead-up to the Olympic break. Some clubs, however, are more willing to wait until after the Olympics to get deals off the board.
