WATCH: Pennsylvania Basketball Coach ‘Headbutts’ Referee

A brief video appears to show a Pennsylvania high school basketball coach headbutting a referee because he was angry about a call.

The video was posted online by the City of Basketball Love.

The website says the video shows Neshaminy High School basketball coach Jerry Devine knocking the unnamed referee to the ground during a game Tuesday night against Pennsbury High School. Devine was ejected from the game.

City of Basketball Love says the incident happened with less than 30 seconds remaining in the game, when one of Devine’s players was called for a charging foul on a layup that would have cut Pennsbury’s lead to three points. The referee called a technical foul on Devine just before the headbutt that sent the official to the floor.

The footage appears to be a cell phone video of a previously recording of the game. Another angle of the video was obtained by the local ABC affiliate:

Devine and school officials have not yet commented. Police were called to the school, according to NBC Philadelphia.

According to the school’s website, Devine is also an algebra teacher at the high school. He has been a teacher for 18 year and has coached the basketball team for 10 years. Devine is married with four daughters and is a graduate of Millersville University
