Benedict Cumberbatch took out an ad in The London Times on November 5 to announce that he and his girlfriend were now engaged. The woman who has ruined the lives of thousands of women by taking Cumberbatch off the market is a talented actress and director with a penchant for singing in French.
Here’s what else you need to know about the future Mrs. Cumberbatch:
1. There Are Rumors the Couple Are Already Married
The Daily Telegraph in England reports rumors that the couple are already married. They were first seen together back in June 2014 at the French Open together. Before that, Cumberbatch had been single since breaking up with his designer girlfriend, Anna Jones, back in 2012.
2. She’s Known for Her Directing as Well as Acting
Although she has acted in some movies, most notably the big-screen adaptation of Vanity Fair in 2004. It’s for her directing that she’s best known in the industry. One of her more extreme directing feats was the play 69 South, a retelling of the journey of explorer Ernest Shackleton, told by puppets.
3. They Shared the Screen in 2009, 5 Years Before They Got Together
Despite only dating since June 2014, Cumberbatch and Hunter have had some contact over the last view years. In the 2009 movie, Burlesque Fairytales, the couple shared screen time together.
4. Hunter Graduated From Oxford
Sophie is no-ordinary movie-star girlfriend/fiancee, she’s an Oxford graduate. While there, she studied languages including French. She pursued that language in music, Hunter released an album called The ISIS Project in 2010 with Guy Chambers.
5. Her Father Is a Professional Poker Player
According to Cumberbatch’s wedding announcement, she’s the daughter of Katharine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London. The Daily Telegraph reports that Charles is a former insurance executive who became a professional card player and he is divorced from Hunter’s mother.
