Sinead O’Connor has been reported missing in the Chicago suburb of Wilmette, Illinois, after she did not return from a bicycle ride Sunday morning, May 15, 2016, police say.
There are concerns that the troubled 49-year-old Irish musician may be suicidal.
She also caused a scare in November after posting a suicide note that focused on her family, including her husband. She was later found alive and was hospitalized.
Here’s what you need to know about Herridge and O’Connor:
1. O’Connor Blamed Her Family in Her Suicide Note in November
O’Connor posted what looks to be a suicide note on her Facebook page. In the note, she blames her family, some friends, her exes and her husband. She writes:
What was done to me this week was appalling cruelty. By my husband, my family, by St Pats and by An Gardai Siochana, by my son, Jake and by Donal Lunny and Angela singleton, by my son’s girlfriend, his friends… after everything I’ve been put through and been forced to go through alone …
O’Connor suffers from bipolar disorder and manic depression, according to Telegraph, and has been hospitalized on several occasions.
She attempted suicide on her 33rd birthday in 1999.
2. Herridge Is O’Connor’s Fourth Husband
This is the fourth marriage for O’Connor, who has been unlucky in love. She addressed a couple of her exes in her suicide note, writing that:
The withholding of my babies from me without any sound reason by their fathers, Frank and Donal, and by Jake and the rest of my family, is a horrific set of betrayals … Strangers like me.. But my family don’t value me at all … My children don’t care if I live r die anyway. Neither do their dads. Everyone is better off. Never ever do this to a woman again. Let this be your lesson.
O’Connor’s first husband was music producer John Reynolds, who she married in 1989. Her second husband was music journalist Nick Sommerlad, who she married in 2002. She wed her third husband, musician Steve Cooney, in 2010 but that marriage only lasted less than a year.
According to O’Connor, the fathers of her children have been keeping her from her kids and she was left alone to recover from a recent hysterectomy. For days, O’Connor has been posted lengthy, sad and angry posts on her Facebook page, lashing out at family members and praising her son Shane.
O’Connor posted a message to her son, Jake Reynolds, on Facebook on May 15, at 8:12 a.m. local time, two hours after she was last seen leaving for her bicycle ride.
The post is in reference to the custody battle O’Connor is embroiled in with her ex, Donal Lunny, over their 11-year-old son, Shane. You can read the post below:
Jake, kindly go to the court on Tuesday and take custody your brother from Tusla. My lawyer will be making the illegal way yourself and Donal got him into Tusla (lying to the cops etc) known to the judge. expect to be in trouble. In fact you’d best bring a lawyer of your own. And do not abandon your brother or any other of my babies again. What you have done to your brother and your mother is LITERALLY criminal.
Tusla, which she mentions in the post, is the Child and Family Agency in Ireland.
3. O’Connor Asked Herridge to Stand Up for Her in Her November Suicide Note
In O’Connor’s suicide note, though she blames her husband (among others) for her choice to end her life, she also asks him to stand up for her, saying:
Make sure you tell the truth. BARRY.. THEY WONT. YOURE THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOWS ME OR THE TRUTH. PLEASE STAND FOR ME AND TELL IT. i can’t play twister. My children don’t care if I live r die anyway. Neither do their dads.
O’Connor is a mother of four children. O’Connor has one daughter Rosin, 19, and three sons Jake, 28, Shane, 11, and Yeshua, . Shane has been very ill since March 2015 and she talks about his being sick in her note.

Herridge and O’Connor met online four months before getting married on December 8, 2011. O’Connor had posted an online plea asking for potential mates to approach her and Barry responded.
O’Connor has made a habit of posting personal information and reaching out to others online. In November, O’Connor posted a plea for shelter, even including her email address, writing:
Urgent. ‘ Have recently discovered am not at all built for living alone. I need a colourful, warm and friendly place to live. With funny people who don’t think I’m an asshole, and who will let me smoke. If you have a bedroom room available in some such happy environment, but suitable for a woman of my years, please e mail psalm91Music@icloud.com
