Celine Dion is the recipient of the 2016 Billboard Music Awards’ Icon Award as she is a true legend in the music industry. So, how old is Dion? Dion is 48 years old and was born on March 30, 1968. In her career, she has become one of the highest-earning musicians in history and by the age of 18, she had already won several awards as well as recorded 9 French albums, according to Biography.com.
In the 1990’s, Dion dominated the charts with hit songs including “The Power of Love,” “Because You Loved Me,” and “My Heart Will Go On,” which is from the Titanic soundtrack. When Dion was just 12 years old, she recorded her own demo and sent it to music producer Rene Angelil, who later became her husband.
Sadly, at just 48 years old, Dion became a widow in January 2016, just a few months ago. Her husband Angelil had battled cancer over the years and lost his fight against throat cancer, leaving behind his wife of nearly 22 years. Just two days later, Dion suffered another tragedy when her brother lost his life to cancer as well.
On May 21, 2016, Dion released a cover of Queen’s song “The Show Must Go On,” which she is performing at the 2016 BBMAs. The track features Lindsey Stirling on the violin and this performance will be her first televised one since her husband’s death.
Currently, Dion has a residency at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. She lives in Henderson, Nevada with her three sons Eddy, Nelson and René-Charles Angelil.
