Lambert (shoulder) elected free agency Monday. Lambert refused an outright assignment by the White Sox, opting for free agency instead. He underwent right shoulder surgery in August and it's unclear when he'll be ready to pitch in games.
Lambert underwent season-ending surgery on his right shoulder Tuesday, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports. Lambert has been on the injured list all season after suffering a right rotator cuff strain during spring training, and he was pulled off his rehab assignment earlier this month after aggravating the injury. He has now elected to undergo surgery to address the issue, which will prevent him from pitching in the majors this season. It's currently unknown if he'll be ready to go for the start of spring training next year.
Lambert (shoulder) was returned from his rehab assignment Saturday, MLB.com reports. Lambert began a rehab assignment July 19 and made a second appearance on the 23rd. The club provided no additional information except that his shoulder strain has been aggravated. However, Lambert's season is likely in jeopardy as he has been on the injured list since March 28.
