The Washington Nationals had the best record in the National League in 2014, but did not make it to the World Series.

So in the offseason, the Nats went out and signed ace pitcher Max Scherzer and made an already deep rotation even stronger. Washington has a tough bullpen and an offense which scored the third-most runs in the National League a season ago.

So when the odds to win the National League championship were released, Washington was picked as the favorite at 3/1 by sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Los Angeles Dodgers were close behind at 9/2.

The defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants garnered 8/1 odds, which is third out of four in the Western Division. The Padres are listed at 7/1.
