Daytona 500 winner Joey Logano will start from the pole in this weekend’s Sprint Cup Series SpongeBob SquarePants 400 from Kansas Speedway.
Logano raced around the 1.5-mile track in Kansas City, Kansas, at 192.397 miles per hour in Friday’s knockout-style qualifying for his 4th pole of the season.
Kasey Kahne will join Logano in the front row after clocking in at 191.911 mph.
The 5-year-old race, formerly known as the STP 400 and last year as the 5-Hour Energy 400, is set for Saturday night. The race will be televised by FOX Sports 1 and has a scheduled green flag time for approximately 7:46 p.m. Eastern.
Rounding out the top 5 are Brad Keselowski, Martin Truex Jr. and Carl Edwards.
Jeff Gordon is the defending champion as he held off Kevin Harvick in the 2014 5-Hour Energy 400. Gordon will start 11th, Harvick 6th.
The SpongeBob 400 is the last race before the All-Star weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina, on May 15-16.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is coming off his first win of the season, a victory last weekend in the Geico 500 at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama, and will look to carry momentum into Saturday night’s race when he starts from the 17th position.
