Alfred Blue Fantasy Outlook & Predictions vs. Chiefs

Texans head coach Bill O’Brien took the Patriots offense to the Super Bowl in 2011. If there’s one mantra he carries over from his time under Bill Belicheck, it’s the “Next man up” philosophy. After an injury to Arian Foster forced him out for the preseason and beyond, O’Brien has tried multiple options for his replacement. Chris Polk may see some action, but the majority of plays will go to Alfred Blue, who had nice moments filling in for Foster last season.

Blue was a shaky fantasy start last season to say the least. Only once did he have back-to-back games with more than 15 carries, a sign that the Texans actively seek alternatives. O’Brien runs a passing scheme, so it’s no surprise he’s hesitant to pound the ball without Foster. In Blue’s breakout game, a 136-yard performance against the Browns, he failed to score or even catch a pass. Straight yards, homie.

How will Blue perform on Sunday? It doesn’t look good against a tough Chiefs front. KC gave up a ton of yards on the ground last season, but gave up a league-low four rushing touchdowns all season. The Texans struggled in the preseason in short-yardage situations, and would rather throw the ball to J.J. Watt. Blue should post totals around 80 rushing yards, but it won’t be a strong fantasy outing without a touchdown. He’s a low RB2 at best.

Final Prediction: 18 Carries, 88 Yards
