Fresh off an impressive 38-3 thumping of Texas, No. 9 Notre Dame (1-0) heads to Charlottesville to take on Virginia (0-1).
In their victory against the Longhorns, the Irish dominated every facet of the game. The offense, led by dynamic quarterback Malik Zaire, put up 527 yards of total offense, while the defense forced Texas into eight three-and-outs on 11 possessions and surrendered only 163 total yards.
Head coach Brian Kelly, though, wasn’t ready to celebrate.
“A good victory. It’s only one,” he said. “It’s a long journey for our football team. We’re excited about the win, but we have a long way to go.”
Next on that journey is Virginia. The Cavaliers face their second top-15 opponent in a row after falling to UCLA in Week 1 by a score of 34-16. UVA managed to put up 336 total yards of total offense, but the defense, which lost Eli Harold and Max Valles to the NFL, had no match for true freshman Josh Rosen and may be in for another long day against Zaire in Co.
Despite being at home, the ‘Hoos are 13-point underdogs, per OddsShark.com.
