Meet the Jacksonville State Gamecocks

The Jacksonville State Gamecocks made national news by almost upsetting the No. 6 Auburn Tigers. Auburn pulled out the 27-20 victory in overtime but it was a valiant effort by Jacksonville State. Here is an overview on the school that almost defeated one of the SEC’s best teams.

The Gamecocks were led by quarterback Eli Jenkins. Jenkins is a 6’3″ quarterback is from Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama. Parker had 277 passing yards and also provided a threat running the ball. The school is no stranger to upsets. The Gamecocks upset Ole Miss in 2010.

According to Phil Steele, the Gamecocks play in the Ohio Valley Conference. They play under second-year head coach Bill Clark. The school is actually located in Jacksonville, Alabama not Jacksonville, Florida.
