Saturday is a pretty big day for both Greyson Lambert and his girlfriend, Adeline Kenerly.

Lambert and No. 8 Georgia will host No. 13 Alabama, with a win sure to put the Bulldogs right in the thick of the college football playoff conversation. At halftime, Kenerly will take the spotlight, as she will officially be crowned Miss Georgia 2015.

“It’s the biggest game of my college career here at UGA,” said Kenerly, a 21-year-old senior. “And to have my crowning here at halftime is just like a cherry on top of an already exciting weekend.”

Here’s everything you need to know about her:

Kenerly was named Miss University of Georgia as a junior in 2014. She followed that up by finishing first runner-up in the Miss Georgia Pageant, but after the winner, Betty Cantrell, was crowned Miss America, Kenerly assumed the duties of Miss Georgia 2015.

“I was so happy for Betty; so excited for the state of Georgia – we have a Miss America. It was such an awesome moment,” said Kenerly. “It wasn’t until the moment after that I realized, wow, my life’s about to change, too.”

2. She and Lambert Have Known Each Other Since Grade School

The story of Kenerly and Lambert, both natives of Jesup, Georgia, began when they were only nine years old.

“Well, Grayson passed me a note in the fifth grade and I guess that’s where it all began,” she explains.

After both attending Wayne County High School–where they went to the prom together–they went their separate ways for college: Kenerly to Georgia, where both her parents had gone, and Lambert to Virginia to play football.

And although Lambert’s transfer back to UGA has brought them back together again, she insists he returned for other reasons: “He transferred to play football.”

3. She Is a Member of the UGA Majorettes Team

Following in the footsteps of her mother, Joy, Kenerly has a passion for baton twirling. She used it as her talent for the Miss Georgia competition, she has competed at the highest levels around the world, she was named the top collegiate twirler in the southeast in 2013 and she is a member of Georgia’s majorettes team.

4. Her Younger Sister Is a Featured Twirler for Georgia

Kenerly’s younger sister, Jameson, has also taken up the family tradition. Not only is she also a majorette, but she is one of the team’s two featured twirlers. Competing nationally since she was five, Jameson won a gold medal at the 2013 International Cup Competition in Holland and won the National Title of 2013 World-Open Solo Champion in the National Baton Twirling Association.

Adeline is one of four siblings who were born within five years of each other.

5. She Is a Double Major

Somehow in between being Miss Georgia and a member of the majorettes team, Kenerly is majoring in both Broadcast and Digital Journalism and Political Science. She has a 3.99 GPA, is a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and has been a member of the UGA Dean’s List.

Kenerly hopes to carve out a career in broadcast journalism, and she believes her involvement in the Miss America Organization will help her along that path.

“The role of Miss America has evolved into becoming largely a spokesperson and this appeals to me because of my career ambition of broadcast journalism.”
